More than 10 pounds of methamphetamine and multiple weapons were seized last week on the Western Slope by drug task force investigators.
The drugs and weapons were seized during a Jan. 26 during a traffic stop on I-70 by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office. A search warrant had been issued for the vehicle, a 2001 Buick Century with California plates, according to a Montrose County Sheriff’s Office media release.
The Drug Task Force, made up of Montrose County Sheriff’s Office and Montrose Police Department personnel, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Western Slope Drug Task Force seized the drugs, weapons — including a semi-automatic AR-15 style rifle — and ammunition in the vehicle.
Robert Lafond and Alicia Kissell were arrested on suspicion of transport, importation and distribution of schedule II narcotics, possession of paraphernalia, possession of weapon by a previous offender, and additional charges.
The arrests and seizure are the result of a multi-agency investigation spanning from California to Colorado, the release said.
