Police said the robbery occurred at a Chase Bank ATM at 38th and Wadsworth around 5 a.m. Feb. 1, 2017.

A bald, black man riding a bicycle shot a woman at a Wheat Ridge ATM early Wednesday morning after a failed attempt to rob her, authorities say.

The woman, who was shot in the shoulder, was taken to a hospital for treatment, said Sara Spaulding, Wheat Ridge police spokeswoman.

“He was on a bike with a gun,” Spaulding said. “He did not get any money.”

The victim described the alleged robber as a bald, black man in his 40s wearing dark clothing and riding a bicycle, Spaulding said.

The bicyclist rode up to the woman while she was getting money from an ATM at the Chase Bank at 38th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard, Spaulding said.

If people see a man matching the alleged robber’s description, they should not approach him. They should call Wheat Ridge police or 911.
