HOUSTON — Every Thursday for the last two seasons, Wade Phillips would trot to the podium and he’d often have a story to tell. Sometimes the former Broncos defensive coordinator, who took the same position with the Los Angeles Rams in January, would take reporters into his coaching time vault. Other times he’d reminisce on Texas and life growing up with his father, Bum.

NFL fans and casual readers will get a chance to learn some of those stories both told and untold. Phillips announced Wednesday he will be releasing a new book titled “Son of Bum: Lessons My Dad Taught Me About Football and Life” on May 2.

Longtime Buffalo News Bills reporter Vic Carucci helped Phillips write the book.

Amazon describes the book with this caption: “Son of Bum is more than one man’s memoir, it’s a story of family and football and a father who inspired his son.”

The 256-page hardcover book is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com for $25.99.
