
SAN ANTONIO – A funny thing happened Friday when Nuggets coach Michael Malone was asked his Super Bowl pick, and then that pick was broadcasted to the fans at the .
He got booed.
He picked the Patriots.
On Saturday, before the Nuggets game at San Antonio, Malone got his mulligan. This was his response when asked who his pick to win the Super Bowl would be.
“I got booed (Friday) night very loudly at the home arena because of my choice, so I’m gonna flip it,” said Malone, grinning all the way. “I picked New England (Friday) night, I’ve had a change of heart. After getting booed on the big screen coming out of halftime I’m going to go with Atlanta. So maybe that will get some people off of my back in Denver.
Malone is a Steelers fan.
“I’m open about that,” he said. “I’m a huge Steelers fan; lifelong.”
He turned his gaze to the camera and pointed.
“But,” he said. “Letap go Falcons.”
Gallinari update. did not play for a second consecutive game. He continues to nurse a left groin injury. There isn’t an official timetable for his return.
On Friday, Malone said: “The next couple of games he’ll be out, and kind of monitor his progress with his treatment on the groin. And if it happens to be longer, we’re not going to rush him back. Thatap an injury that can keep on coming back if you don’t treat it the right way. So we’ll be smart.”
