Columbine snapped a five-game losing streak with a victory at home against Arvada West on Friday night, as the Rebels (12-9, 4-8) beat the Wildcats (8-13, 5-7) 58-46 in a hard-fought contest in Littleton.

Senior Zach Winters and the Rebels avenged their 52-46 loss to Arvada West on Jan. 18, capitalizing on a number of clutch buckets to pull away down the stretch as well as a stingy defense that averaged nearly 10 steals coming into the game,

Columbine is 39th in the latest Class 5A RPI while Arvada West is 44th, with 48 teams making the state tournament. And with just one week left in the regular season, both squads are putting their playoff hopes on the line every time they step out on the floor.

The Rebels finish the year on the road at Ralston Valley (Feb. 14, 7 p.m.) and No. 6 Chatfield (Feb. 17, 7 p.m), while the Wildcats close with games against Pomona (Feb. 14, 7 p.m.) and at Ralston Valley (Feb. 16, 7 p.m.).
