Boulder County sheriff’s detectives, emergency workers and coroner’s staffers found a body near Ward early Sunday.

No identification had been made, Sgt. Sam Hard said. The body had decomposed partially.

A hiker notified authorities Saturday about what appeared to be a body. But searchers initially were unable to find it before dark. They returned to the area early Sunday.

They found the body away from homes, a couple miles southeast of Ward in mountainous terrain, Hard said.

Boulder County authorities are investigating three missing-persons cases and were thinking the discover of this body might help unravel one of them, he said.
