NonameԻThe Polish Ambassador are our picks for the best shows around Denver this week. See you there, and if you don’t make it out, follow our music musings on and our selfies on . If you do, mind where .
Noname — Feb. 22, Lost Lake Lounge
The charm of Noname, AKA Fatimah Warner, comes quick to the close listener. Take this nugget of wisdom from “Yesterday,” a standout track from her 2016 debut, “Telefone”: “When I remember memories don’t last forever / When I deny my empty with an open letter / Who gon’ remember me? / My satellite, my empathy.” Even if she isn’t quite as bright as 2017 Grammy Award winner Chance the Rapper, who tapped her talent for his celebrated 2016 mixtape “Coloring Book,” Warner is a shining star in this generation’s constellation of MCs. Catch her while you can next week: she won’t be playing venues as small as Lost Lake Lounge for long. Tickets are $15-$17 via .
The Polish Ambassador — Feb. 17, Fillmore Auditorium
Though the name conjures a European diplomat, San Fransisco’s Polish Ambassador (real name David Sugalski) isn’t foreign to Colorado’s club faithful. Not only is the lush soundscape architect a regular around venues like Red Rocks and Cervantes, but Sugalski got a (probably underutilized) business degree at the University of Colorado back in 2003. That’s not the only reason he’ll be packing the 3,600-person Fillmore Auditorium on Feb. 17. Laying claim to a menagerie of wildly different styles, there’s no niche Sugalski can’t get at. Tickets: $19.75-$37.25 via .
