Phil Mickelson to design practice facility for Arizona State, his alma mater

PGA Tour golfer Phil Mickelson is giving back to his alma mater.

Mickelson, who graduated from ASU in 1992, is going to be designing a new short-game practice facility for the Sun Devils at Papago Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.

Arizona State has signed a 30-year agreement with Papago Golf Course to become the home course for both men’s and women’s golf teams, .

“This short game facility is going to be the single greatest short game facility in the country.” Mickelson said of Papago’s future facility. “It’s not going to be the biggest, it’s not going to be the most aesthetically beautiful, it’s going to be the most functional.”
