The Colorado Capitol on Jan. 6.Party lines are drawn at our state Capitol. Each time I sit in a committee hearing or listen to one online, I find that the members do not vote on the merits of the bill, they vote along party lines. It is easy to predict if a bill will pass committee based on how many Democrats and how many Republicans sit on the committee.
This is not good practice for a representative democracy. Our legislators need to be reminded that their responsibility is to represent the citizens of Colorado, not their political party.
