A Canadian firm has acquired Milliken-based Bestway Concrete Co., one of the northern Front Range’s largest providers of concrete and aggregates.

“This is our entry position into Colorado and we are very excited about it. It is one of the top markets in the U.S. for growth,” said Clifford Hahne, a vice president with BURNCO USA, which is based in Irving, Texas. BURNCO USA is a subsidiary of BURNCO Rock Products, which is based in Calgary.

Bestway Concrete, founded in 1981, runs nine ready-mix concrete plants, owns four aggregate pits and counts more than 200 employees. The current management team is expected to stay in place along with the workers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hahne said BURNCO plans to use Bestway as a platform for additional acquisitions in Colorado. Concrete is a perishable commodity, which means outside firms that want to operate in a specific market need to set up operations there.

Bestway will maintain its products and services, Hahne said.
