A tent covers the body of a man at Larimer Square on Feb. 21, 2017. Police are investigating the man's death.

A man’s death Tuesday afternoon near a busy intersection in downtown Denver is under investigation.

The incident happened at about 2:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of Larimer St., said Doug Schepman, a Denver Police Department spokesman.

Investigators responding to the incident cordoned off Larimer Square — Larimer Street between 14th and 15th Streets — pitching a square white tent behind police tape.

Traffic, which was detoured, was backed up by the incident.

Several police officers and detectives worked the scene late Tuesday afternoon, including interviewing witnesses to the incident.
