Police say protesters chanting "meat is murder" ruined $1,000 worth of food inside Boulder's Ideal Market on Sunday.

Two people ruined about $1,000 worth of food at Ideal Market in Boulder on Sunday after putting flowers on it in what appeared to be a protest of meat, according to police.

An unidentified man and a woman walked into Ideal Market, 1275 Alpine Ave., shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, according to Boulder police spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly.

Cordingly said the two suspects then “laid flowers on the slain animals residing in the butcher cabinet,” and filmed themselves chanting things like, “Meat is murder, this is not love, meat is not food.”

The store cannot sell the meat due to the tampering, and Cordingly said the market’s loss is estimated to be more than $1,000.
