Police believe Batty strangled Webster in March. The two had been friends for three years after meeting at a local homeless shelter. In the time leading up to her death, police said, the relationship became intimate. Police believe Batty murdered Webster when she came over to his apartment for sex one night. Batty’s parole officers later found her body sodomized with a baseball bat in a steamer trunk in his closet.
