
Snack-time crime. On Feb. 22, Arvada police officers were dispatched to King Soopers, 8031 Wadsworth Blvd., on a report of theft. A store employee saw three suspects take merchandise without paying and head toward the McDonalds across the parking lot. When officers arrived they spotted the suspects who admitted to stealing $46.88 in food including a bag of Fritos and a package of sushi. They were cited with municipal theft.
Bad night for Bud Light. Arvada police encountered a car turned sideways on the off ramp from eastbound I-70 to Wadsworth Boulevard on Feb. 19. The driver said his car had bottomed out on the way home from work so he tried to push it off the road. The officer noticed signs of intoxication, and the suspect admitted to having two Bud Lights at a bar after work. When asked to perform in a roadside sobriety test, the suspect refused. He was taken into custody for suspicion of a DUI. At the station, he was uncooperative with officers and put in a holding cell.
Strike out No. 2. On Feb. 22, Arvada police received a report of attempted motor vehicle theft in the 6600 block of Benton Street. The victim said this was the second time someone had attempted to steal this vehicle. The night of the incident the victim heard noise outside his house, but when he looked, there was no one there. The ignition and the lock on the driver-side door were damaged totaling to $1,100. There was not enough physical evidence to pursue a suspect.Lights out. A vehicle that spun out at the intersection of West 44th Avenue and Tabor Street on Feb. 2 struck a power pole causing a power outage. Xcel Energy responded, and no one was hurt.
