Authorities in Grand County believe a woman may have died of exposure.

Lt. Dan Mayer, a county sheriff’s office spokesman, said there are no obvious signs that foul play was involved in the death. The woman also had no signs of serious self-inflicted wounds.

“Our theory, at this point, is that she may have died of exposure,” Mayer said.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Bureau of Investigation say they have interviewed several people and do not suspect that anyone was involved in the woman’s death.

The woman has tentatively been identified as a Grand County resident, but her name has not been released. Her cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy.

“The investigation into this very sad and unfortunate incident is still ongoing, and hopefully this information will address some of the speculation in the social media,” the sheriff’s office said in a Thursday news release.

The county sheriff’s office says a resident of the complex off Arapahoe Circle, near Granby Ranch, reported finding a person lying on their patio at about 10:30 a.m., “and wasn’t sure if the person was still breathing.”

“A guy called and said there’s a person on my back porch and they don’t appear to be alive,” said Lt. Dan Mayer, a Grand County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
