Re: “” March 1 letter to the editor.
In the first paragraph of his letter, Larry Roche praises President Donald Trump for what he calls a “unifying message” to Congress. Then in the second paragraph he vilifies “liberal ideas and beliefs.”
This is typical of the convoluted thinking we hear daily from Trump, his surrogates and his supporters. What unifies this country are common values which have no party allegiance. Putting America’s interests “first,” as Roche puts it, is not the same thing as putting America’s values first. It’s the latter, not the former, that truly is what makes America great.

In his letter to the editor, Larry Roche notes that he is gratified by President Donald Trump’s “unifying message” in his recent speech to Congress. Roche then goes on to excoriate Democrats as a “disgrace to our democratic principles.” If the goal is to unify our nation, perhaps we could begin by toning down the name calling. Itap not persuasive.
