Washington receiver John Ross called his shot. In interviews with media before his combine workout, he said he planned to run a sub-4.3-second 40-yard dash at the combine. He had hit the 4.3 mark in training in the weeks prior and planned to run even faster in front of every NFL team and the millions watching on TV.
Yes, he hoped to snap of 4.24 seconds.
“I’m going to try. I am going to try,” he said. “I don’t want to say too much. I’m going to try. I’m going to give it my best.”
Saturday, he did, recording a time of 4.22 seconds in his first and only attempt Saturday.
