Tyler Paul MasonA sheriff’s deputy who was fired after being accused of plotting to smuggle chewing tobacco and marijuana edibles into the Boulder County Jail was sentenced to 18 months of probation after taking a plea deal on Friday.
Tyler Paul Mason, 33, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of official misconduct in exchange for prosecutors dropping two felony counts of conspiracy to introduce contraband.
According to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, an inmate went to a jail staffer on Sept. 23 and said another inmate had made arrangements with Mason to smuggle chewing tobacco and marijuana edibles into the jail.
