Spotlight on D’Angelo Russell: The second-year point guard is beginning to exhibit the potential Lakers executives saw in him when they selected Russell No. 2 overall out of Ohio State. The 6-foot-5 guard is averaging 15.3 points, 4.8 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. Russell has scored at least 16 points in each of his last eight games, including a 28-point performance against Phoenix on Thursday in which he hit the game-winning 3-pointer.

Lakers: Forward Julius Randle has three triple-doubles this season. … The victory for Los Angeles over Phoenix on Thursday snapped an eight-game losing streak. … The Lakers ended a seven-game losing streak when they beat the Nuggets 120-116 on Jan. 31 at the Staples Center. Nick Young led the Lakers with 23 points in the win.

Nuggets: Denver is attempting to match its longest winning streak of the season at three games. … Gary Harris has scored at least 22 points in five of his last 11 games. He set a career high in scoring twice during that span, the most recent being a 26-point output during a loss to Washington last Wednesday. Harris is tied for sixth in the NBA in 3-point percentage at 42.9 percent. … Wilson Chandler scored 26 points in the loss to the Lakers on Jan. 31.
