found in October by hunters on the Uncompahgre Plateau have been identified as a Nucla man .
Montrose County authorities say Gerry “Hoop” Reed, 56, died of hypothermia due to exposure in what has been ruled an accident.
Reed’s remains — — were found Oct. 29, 2016, in the Sawmill Mesa area of the plateau.
Details in the case haven’t been released. from 2014 say Reed was reported missing by his neighbors, who hadn’t seen or heard from him in weeks.
The area where Reed’s remains were found is about 30 miles northeast of Nucla.
