Home decorating. The maintenance manager of an apartment complex in the 500 block of Potomac Street called police Feb. 21 because someone broke into the storage shed a stole a stove-top oven. The unknown suspects pried into the shed and also took two ceiling fans and two large bundles of trash bags.

Nothing to steal. Someone broke into a couple of businesses in an office building in the 5000 block of South Parker Road Feb. 27. The businesses were mainly medical and insurance offices, and none of the owners kept any cash on site. Police noted that the suspect pried the doors open to get into each business.

Cut and run. An employee of Sally Beauty Supply, 4257 S. Buckley Road, called police Feb. 25 after he caught a woman trying to steal two high-end hairdryers by stuffing them into her purse. The employee confronted the suspect while she was trying to leave the store. She quickly gave one dryer back and took off with the other one still in her bag.

Fraudulent charges. A woman who lives in the 2000 block of South Cathay Way reported Feb. 24 that someone stole her daughter’s credit card and racked up bills from two locations. There are no suspects.

Neighborhood truck kicker. A man who lives in the 16300 block of East 14th Place called police Feb. 21 because he said it looked like someone kicked the driver’s side door on his truck sometime the night before. There was a boot print on the side of the door, but there are no suspects.
