Re: “” March 10 entertainment story.
It is apparent that an artistic dilemma exists in arts groups, particularly theater, large and small, receiving Scientific and Cultural Facilities District funding. I am not averse to diversity in content, but I would hope that quality not be sacrificed for the sake of diversity. Shakespeare, Moliere, Shaw, Sophocles, yes, are dead white guys, but their ideas are universal and speak to all human beings, regardless of color, gender and ethnicity. I would hate to see a hasty retreat of these playwrights at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and smaller local theaters just to satisfy SCFD mandates on presenting “diversity” — an unknown artistic feature at best.
