A 35-year-old skier died at Loveland Ski Area on Friday morning after reportedly hitting a tree.

The near the bottom of the ski area’s Lift 8, according to the Summit Daily News.

As first reported by Fox31 Denver, the man died just after 10:30 a.m.

A witness said the man had skied directly into a tree. The skier, who was wearing a helmet, was unresponsive. The ski patrol arrived in about 10 minutes.

The identify of the skier was not released. An investigation is ongoing.
