Jack Grynberg was arrested in December 2016 on sexual assault charges that were later dropped.

An unlawful sexual assault charge against a Denver oil and gas tycoon has been dropped after prosecutors determined they could not prove the case in court.

Jack Jakob Grynberg, 84, was on the felony charge after a female employee accused him of grabbing her and kissing her without permission.

Harvey Steinberg, a Denver defense attorney who represented Grynberg, said his client was happy the Denver District Attorney’s Office reached what he called the proper conclusion.

“There was really no basis or foundation to charge him with anything to begin with,” Steinberg said.

The District Attorney’s Office filed a motion to dismiss charges on Wednesday, and the motion was granted on Thursday, said Ken Lane, spokesman for the district attorney’s office.

“A further review of the evidence led us to determine the charges couldn’t be proved beyond a reasonable doubt,” Lane said.

Grynberg made his fortune by on accusations that they defrauded the federal government out of money in mineral royalties.
