Interview with Mike and Jenny McDonnell, owners
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: We love the Southlands area and wanted to provide a great experience and an alternative form of entertainment for people living in Aurora. I also grew up in Aurora so being able to provide a fun experience for our city is a great privilege.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
:We emphasize customer service as our first priority. We offer a do-it-yourself option and all of our artists have art degrees which is very rare at a “paint and sip.”
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
:We love interacting with people and watching people have a great time. Jenny is a big crafter so she enjoys coming up with new ideas for our DIY projects.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
:Letting people know that we are here in Southlands and dispelling the rumor that we are a store that just sells paint.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
:We are a small locally owned business that is not a franchise and we are the only “paint and sip” in Aurora. Guests leave surprised and excited at how well they are able to create a painting even if they don’t have artistic experience. This is due to the fact that we are fortunate enough to have talented artists who teach step-by-step paired with one-on-one interaction.
