More than 100 post-9/11 veterans will volunteer Saturday to help local children.
The service project connecting veterans and disadvantaged kids is part of the Mission Continues, a nonprofit organization empowering veterans, adjusting to life at home, through community impact, according to a news release from organizers.
Volunteers, along with center staffers, will help refurbish the interior of the , 2950 Tennyson St. Work will also be done on the center’s grounds and play areas.
For more than a century, the Tennyson Center has served and nurtured Denver area children. The center empowers kids who’ve been abused, neglected or traumatized, to bravely, and safely, change their lives. Tennyson Center provides in-home, K-12 classroom and residential therapeutic services.
Veterans from around the country will take part in the service day, along with volunteers from CarMax and Lockheed Martin. To learn more, visit: www.missioncontinues.org or @missioncontinue on Twitter.
