Pants stuffed with illegal things. Store security at Walmart, 9901 Grant St., Thornton, called police because they caught a man shoplifting by stuffing merchandise down his pants Feb. 11. While the suspect was being searched, a loaded, unlicensed handgun and plastic baggie full of ammunition was pulled out of his waist band. Everything was confiscated.

Smash and dash. Someone rear-ended a woman who was stopped at a traffic light in the 6900 block of Colorado Highway 2, Commerce City, and then took off before police arrived March 9. The victim said the man got out, looked at her car, said there wasn’t significant damage and then sped off.

Shattered peace. Police were called to the 10900 block of Birch Drive, Thornton, because someone threw a rock through a man’s basement window into his children’s bedroom while they were sleeping Feb. 12. The man suspected his ex wife, but there was no evidence.

Overnight damage. A woman reported that someone smashed out the rear passenger window on her car while it was parked in the 2700 block of West 100th Avenue, Federal Heights, Feb. 7. There are no suspects.

Speeding and drunk. A man who was speeding in the 9100 block of Washington Street, Thornton, cut across three lanes of traffic when a patrolling officer tried to pull him over Feb. 11. The suspect also hit a curb when he stopped, and then he failed a DUI test. He was arrested.

Break-in attempt. Someone tried to force open a man’s front door Feb. 9 in the 2300 block of West 92nd Avenue, Federal Heights. The door fame was cracked. There are no suspects.
