Five now face murder charges in slayings of two teens in El Paso County

A fifth person now faces first-degree murder charges in the .

Alexandria Marie Romero, 20, had been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping but her charges were upgraded to first-degree murder during a hearing on Tuesday. Prosecutor Jim Bentley told the court that the charges came after an additional investigation.

Also on Tuesday, prosecutors formally filed charges against 10 suspects believed to be involved in the killings of Derek Greer, 15, and Natalie Partida, 16, whose bodies were found March 12 near the Pikes Peak International Raceway. Authorities haven’t specified how the pair died. More details are expected to be released once toxicology tests are complete in several weeks. It’s unclear if a motive has been identified.

Fourth Judicial District Judge Larry E. Schwartz granted requests for gag orders on the cases, meaning that attorneys on both sides are limited as to what they can say outside a courtroom.

The other four arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder are , 19, Diego Chacon and Joseph Arthur Rodriquez, both 18, and Marco Antonio Garcia-Bravo, 20. All five defendants charged with murder will return to court June 30 for a status hearing. The rest face charges ranging from accessory to murder to weapons violations.
