Police say Fort Lupton man threatened to shoot opponent after losing pool game

Jarred Holmes was arrested on suspicion of six charges including two counts of menacing with a deadly weapon

A Fort Lupton man could face menacing and drunk driving charges after police say he threatened to kill a man who beat him in a game of pool last week.

According to an arrest affidavit, Jarred Holmes, 34, was arrested on suspicion of six charges, including two counts of menacing with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The affidavit details how Holmes spent the night of April 5 into the morning of April 6 playing a in a pool tournament at the Silver Moon Café in Fort Lupton. Witnesses told police Holmes played six games of pool, and he had been “causing trouble” all night. The report states Holmes drank beer and whiskey as he played. He bet $10 on a game of pool against Joseph Miller, 28, and when Miller won,  Holmes became upset and left the bar.

When Miller and a friend stepped outside, Holmes pointed a handgun at the men and threatened to kill them before driving away. He was arrested about a block north of the cafe.
