
Colorado was one of the most active states for venture capital deals, tying with Texas for sixth most active. According to Dow Jones, 34 companies in Colorado raised $331.93 million. Colorado also had the second-largest acquisition in the U.S., when Boulder’s Zayo Group completed its $1.4 billion purchase of Electric Lightwave, a Washington state telecom.
In a report release Wednesday, PricewaterhouseCoopers and CB Insights’ MoneyTree Report found that overall investments fell nationwide. It most active state for deals in the first quarter. PwC’s report listed 43 companies in the state that raised $344.5 million.
Dow Jones’ report takes into account venture capital-backed initial public offerings, which included Snap Inc. in March. Snap’s IPO represented almost 80 percent of the total amount raised of IPO activity in the U.S., the Dow Jones report said.
