The man charged with killing one man and injuring two others in a 2014 shooting at Bronco Bar in Aurora was convicted Friday on multiple charges including first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Ignacio Luque-Verdugo, 32, of 2014 , according to a news release from the Adams County District Attorney’s Office. Andres Cinto-Duran, 29, was stabbed six times and shot another six times, five of which were to the back while he lay on the ground.
“Thatap cold. Thatap calculated. Thatap first-degree murder,” said Dave Young, district attorney for Adams and Broomfield counties. “Andres Cinto-Duran did not deserve to die. He was a brother, a son, and a husband. He had his whole life ahead of him. He had just gotten his business going. He was to become a U.S. citizen in May.”
Andres Cinto-Duran’s older brother, Sergio Cinto-Duran, 35, also was after one of the bullets struck his spine. Manuel Rios-Rios, 30, was shot twice and survived.
“Andres Cinto-Duran reacted to help his brother when he saw an unidentified man who was with Luque-Verdugo pull a knife and go after Sergio Cinto-Duran,” the release said.
Surveillance video showed Luque-Verdugo placing a beer bottle on a pool table as he reached for his gun, according to the release. Fingerprints and DNA from the bottle linked him to the murder and other crimes.
After the jury deliberated for three hours, Luque-Verdugo was convicted of first-degree murder after deliberation, first-degree murder extreme indifference, four counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and eight counts of crime of violence.
Luque-Verdugo was arrested in California in July 2015. He is scheduled to be sentenced June 19.
