A search is underway for a youth corrections inmate who escaped authorities in Douglas County.
Jacob Beckstead, 18, escaped Tuesday afternoon in the area of C-470 and Quebec Street, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. He was in transit at the time of his escape.
Beckstead is described as a white male, about 5-foot-10 and 140 pounds. He was wearing a red jacket and brown pants. He previously lived in the Highlands Ranch area.

Beckstead was in custody on charges that were adjudicated when he was a minor. The charges were not released by the sheriff’s office.
Anyone who sees Beckstead is advised to call 911 and not to make contact with him.
