A robber, telling clerks he had a gun, stole clothes from a store in a Loveland Mall, resulting in a high-speed chase on I-25 that snarled traffic.

The incident started at about 4:50 p.m., when Loveland police responded to a robbery at Zumiez, a clothing store in the Promenade Shops at Centerra, 5897 Sky Pond Drive, police said.

A robber got into a black Honda Civic with three other people, and the car took off.

A Loveland officer spotted the car going south on I-25. The officer activated lights and siren, but the driver sped on. Other Loveland officers and police from surrounding agencies joined the pursuit.

At Colorado 119, the driver of the Honda got off the highway onto the frontage road. Loveland officers attempted tactical stops, bumping the Honda, and were unsuccessful twice. A third maneuver brought the Honda to a stop.

Four people in the car were detained.

No one was injured. Two police vehicles were damaged, and traffic was backed up in the area for several hours.

None of the people in the car were identified. An investigation is ongoing.
