Morgan County deputies investigating after property owners find body in their animal shed

The body was found just east of Wiggins on Sunday evening

Authorities in Morgan County are investigating after property owners east of Wiggins on Sunday evening found a body inside of an animal shed.

The discovery happened about 7:30 p.m. on the 9000 block of County Road Q. The county sheriff’s office declined to release details in the case, including the person’s name, age, gender, and cause and manner of death.

“Investigators hope to learn more about a cause of death from an autopsy scheduled for today, as well as attempt to identify the person found,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release Monday.

Deputies and investigators from the sheriff’s office are working with local police and prosecutors on the case.

Undersheriff Dave Martin did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

Last week, — who had been reported missing on the 19000 block of U.S. 34, just outside of Fort Morgan. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said last week it was also searching for Destiny McMinn, a missing woman who was said to be with Macias. Authorities have not indicated any connection between Macias’ death and McMinn’s disappearance and the body discovered on Sunday night.
