At Saturday’s film festival in Longmont, all the feature short films will be rated awwwww.
Susan Kelley got the idea to create a film festival fundraiser that would benefit animal organizations while volunteering at the Longmont Humane Society in 2014. That idea eventually became the — a collection of short films about dogs.
With the help of Chris Keig and others, Kelley made her idea into a reality. Keig owns production company WebEye Group and had worked on a successful fly fishing film tour.
After trying a Bow Wow Film Festival in Longmont in 2014, Kelley’s team took the show on the road and fine-tuned the marketing strategy. Ticket sales from the festivals support animal rescues and dog service organizations.
Although the festivals have been held in theaters in other cities, the Longmont festival will be held Saturday at where people are welcome to bring their canine companions.
