What will Broncos general manager do in this year’s draft? The Broncos have the 20th overall pick. Here are their most likely first-round options.
Offensive line
The Broncos biggest need is finding a left tackle. Utah’s Garett Bolles (athleticism, nastiness), Wisconsin’s Ryan Ramczyk (technique, awareness) and Alabama’s Cam Robinson (power, pro system) are the most likely first-round options. The Broncos have shown interest in all three. Head coach believes two are ready to start on day one.
Question: Will Elway secure a blindside protector for his quarterbacks or find better value elsewhere?
Offensive playmaker
Joseph is seeking on offense and there are plenty of prospects who can fill that role.
Stanford’s is the local favorite who could help as a runner, receiver and returner. Alabama’s O.J. Howard is the draft’s most complete tight end. Elway would likely have to trade up to get either one of them. More realistic options at pick 20 include Miami tight end David Njoku, Washington receiver John Ross and Florida State running back Dalvin Cook.
Question: Does Elway wait until Day 2 or 3 to find more offensive weapons or go all-in for a blue chip prospect?
“Falling” defender
Elway has a history of adding to his team’s strengths because the value is too good to pass up (see , ).
Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster, Michigan safety/returner Jabrill Peppers and Ohio State cornerback Gareon Conley are likely top 10-15 talents with that could could result in them falling.
Question: Could Elway ignore offensive needs to add a talented defender who falls to 20?
