An SUV slammed into a U.S. Post Office in Pine, plowing through a wall and window sending debris flying and postal patrons scrambling.
The crash happened at about 3 p.m. at 187 Mount Evans Blvd., according to the Elk Creek Fire Department.
The front end of the white Ford SUV came to stop inside the building, near a wall bank of letter boxes. One person inside reported being struck by debris or the vehicle.
Responding emergency personnel checked the person who reported being struck and the driver for injuries. Both were examined on scene and released.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
“Everyone involved was very lucky,” Deputy Chief Jacob Ware said in a news released. “This accident certainly had the potential for serious injury.”
