Former Nuggets guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf and forward Reggie Evans, and former Colorado Buffaloes guard Xavier Silas were among the 24 players selected in the inaugural Big3 draft on Sunday at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
Evans was selected with the third overall pick by the Killer 3s, while Abdul-Rauf will play for the Three-Headed Monsters after being chosen with the 17th overall pick. Silas was taken by Tri-Cities with the fourth pick.
Abdul-Rauf, 48, was drafted by the Nuggets with the third-overall pick in the 1990 NBA draft. He played six seasons in Denver, averaging 16.0 points and 4.0 assists. Evans, 36, played two seasons in Denver, averaging 5.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in 92 games.
Silas, 29, played two seasons for CU before transferring to Northern Illinois.
Rashad McCants was the No. 1 pick by the Trilogy, which also has former Denver stars Kenyon Martin and Al Harrington.
Other Denver connections include Allen Iverson and DerMarr Johnson on 3’s Company, and Chauncey Billups with the Killer 3s.
The Big3 season will run for 10 weeks with games played across the country, culminating with the championship on Aug. 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
