16-year-old boy remains in critical condition after Aurora shooting; 3 suspects sought

Aurora police are searching for three suspects  Monday afternoon.

The boy remains in critical condition, police said Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators on Tuesday released images of potential suspects and a vehicle of interest in the case. Police also cautioned that those pictured could just be witnesses to the case and not the three wanted in connection with the shooting.

“It is critical to understand the persons shown are only persons of interest as we believe they may have been a witness,” .

The shooting happened just after 2 p.m. in the interior hallway of an apartment complex on the 5700 block of Genoa Street. That’s just southwest of the Denver International Airport and near the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood.

The wounded teen was taken to a local hospital for surgery. Further information on his identity and condition have not been released.Police have not said what motivated the shooting.

The suspects are linked to a red, newer model Dodge Charger  with two black racing stripes across the trunk, roof and hood. Police say they don’t know if the vehicle had license plates.

“Detectives are actively investigating this incident, and continue to conduct interviews with witnesses,” the release said.
