14 people have died at Colorado ski resorts this 2016-17 season

Fourteen people have died during the 2016-17 season, which is wrapping up.

Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Ski Area remain open for operations, with Loveland planning to shut down on May 7 and A-Basin .

this season has been the deadliest in Colorado since 22 people died on the state’s slopes in the 2011-2012 winter. Breckenridge Ski Resort had the most ski deaths of any Colorado resort this season, with five. Second was Loveland, which had two.

The oldest person to die while skiing on Colorado’s slopes this season , of Boulder, who passed away at Loveland on April 28. His death is also the latest in the state this season.

The youngest person to die , of California, who collided with a tree stump at Breckenridge on April 8.
