Jefferson County Road and Bridge workers accidentally cut an unmarked gas line near 30624 Kings Valley Drive Wednesday morning, an accident that resulted in evacuation orders to 15 homes.

Only three of the homes were occupied at the time, said Jenny Fulton, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. “The rest of the people are probably at work,” she said.

The line was cut around 9:30 a.m. Xcel Energy is shutting down gas to the 4-inch, natural gas line.

Evacuees are being taken to Elk Creek Fire Station 1 at 11993 Blackford Road if they don’t have another place to go, Fulton said.
