The Drake Middle School teacher, who with a former middle school student, killed herself, according to the Jefferson County coroner.
that 47-year-old Gretchen Krohnfeldt shot herself in the head in her home Tuesday afternoon, a day after reports about the relationship surfaced and Krohnfeldt was placed on administrative leave by Jefferson County Public Schools.
A school resource officer was told Monday that the teacher had an inappropriate relationship with a former Drake student who is now in high school, according to a joint news release issued by Arvada police and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office earlier this week.
According to the investigation, a physical relationship occurred between the teacher and student in Arvada and it started while the student attended the middle school.
Police and sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate.
