Interview with Jackie Miller, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
:My husband and I have always been into fitness and thought, “Wouldn’t it be nice to open a family gym that not only has weight equipment, but a place where you could learn self-defense as well? A family atmosphere where you feel comfortable and have fun while meeting folks like yourself.”
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
:We offer Krav Maga (self-defense), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kravfit (super fun class) and pro-wrestling classes, as well as weight equipment all under one roof. How many other gyms can say that? I keep my Kravfit classes fresh and fun — those people never know what their finisher is going to be, from tunneling to bowling with a medicine ball.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
:There is no better feeling than when my members show me their before and after photos — the inches they’ve lost or the pounds they’ve shed. They tell me coming to my classes/gym is something they look forward to all day and if they can’t get here, their day is ruined. We know we make a difference in these peoples’ lives and that’s gratifying and rewarding in itself. We feel we were put on this earth to serve and not be served and that’s what we’re doing.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
:We’re kind of hidden in a spot that doesn’t get a lot of traffic, and marketing is always a challenge.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
:Offering so much all under one roof. Family-owned, we always hear, “Can you guys open one up in Aurora, Broomfield, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Golden?” Also Greg, my husband, is a Sergeant with Sheridan Police Department and is the officer that fell in the sinkhole a couple years back.
