If you’re jonesing for even more jazz in your life on top of the recently announced City Park Jazz lineup but don’t want to pay Dazzle’s moving fees, this will put some pep in your step: Five Points Jazz Festival is back for 2017.

The free event returned to the historic Denver neighborhood starting May 19, when Welton Street closed from 25th to 30th at 6 p.m. for the kickoff parade featuring grand marshals Terry Nelson and Norman Harris Sr. Then the music started May 20 from 11 a.m.-10 p.m., bringing with it more that 40 swinging artists across eight venues (Did we mention itap free?). Last year’s event drew 50,000 people.

Shortly after Five Points became designated as a historical district, Denver Arts and Venues began hosting the one-day festival, which celebrates Five Points’ decades-long history
