The ghosts of doo-wop, hard rock and classic R&B roam the jaunty jams that Detroit’s Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas have laid down since forming in 2009. A regular in choir and school musicals, Hernandez swings for the fences in her melodies, which fly high and bounce hard over vintage drum machines, beguiling synths and crunching guitars. Hernandez cut “Telephone/Telephono,” her latest double-album effort, in both English and Spanish, a nod to her dual heritage (she is American, but her mother and father are Mexican and Cuban respectively).
