ViaWest, a Greenwood Village-based information technology and data management company, has been acquired by Peak 10 for $1.675 billion.
, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shaw Communications. Charlotte, N.C.-based Peak 10 is owned by private equity firm GI Partners, a former investor in ViaWest.
Chris Downie, CEO of Peak 10, will lead the combined company, while Nancy Phillips, co-founder and CEO of ViaWest, will become executive chair of the board. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2017, the two companies announced Tuesday.
“As we contemplated strategic partnerships, we quickly concluded that Peak 10 offered a complementary footprint, shared focus on the customer, and talented team,” Phillips said in a statement. “I’m excited for our customers and employees because this combination will deliver an unparalleled customer experience and create dynamic growth opportunities.”
The combined company will have a presence in 20 domestic and international markets in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
