The pilot of a small, single engine plane was unscathed when the nose gear of his aircraft collapsed during landing at Centennial Airport early Friday morning.

The name of the pilot, a man, has not been released.

The pilot was landing a Maule aircraft on the 10/28, cross-wind runway at 6:28 a.m. when the nose gear of the plane collapsed. The propeller was bent and badly damaged.

“The pilot was very fortunate he was not hurt,” airport spokeswoman Deborah Smith said.

Inspectors from the National Transportation Safety Board have completed their on-sight investigation.

A cause of the crash is pending.
