A man is expected to survive his injuries, say officials.

The man, who was not identified by police Sunday night, fled Denver officers after they attempted to make a traffic stop in the area of East 45th Avenue and North Peoria Street about noon Sunday. Police were responding to a report of felony menacing involving a gun in the area.

Police pursued the man into the City of Aurora and at one point during the pursuit, the suspect pointed a gun at officers, said Aurora Police Spokesman Chris Amsler.

The suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed at a condominium complex at East Alameda Parkway and East Ohio Avenue. Shots were fired by officers and the suspect was struck and transported to a local hospital.

The Aurora Police Department will be the lead investigative agency in the case since the shooting occurred in Aurora, Amsler said.
