A body was found Wednesday in Sheldon Lake in Fort Collins City Park.
Police received a call about 6:10 p.m. from a passer-by who reported the discovery, police said.
The identity of the person was not released, and police did not yet know the circumstances on how the body came to be in the lake.
“We’re in the very early stages of the investigation,” said Sgt. Matt Johnson, a police spokesman.
The popular park, in the 1500 block of West Mulberry Street, includes a municipal swimming pool, baseball fields, paths and trails.
