Nuggets guard Jamal Murray was named to the NBA all-rookie second team on Monday, the league announced.
The 6-foot-4, 207-pound guard from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, played in all 82 games, averaging 9.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 21.5 minutes.
The No. 7 overall pick out of Kentucky was also named MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge during NBA All-Star Weekend after he scored 36 points and added 11 assists, leading Team World to a win. He went 9-of-14 from 3-point range in the win.
Murray, 20, ranked sixth among all rookies in scoring, ninth in assists, 10th in minutes and 11th in 3-point shooting percentage. His 115 threes was second-most made by any rookie and he was one of just three rookies to appear in every game.
It’s the eighth time in Nuggets’ history a player has made the all-rookie second team. Murray received the most votes of any member of the second team, narrowly missing out on first-team honors.
Nuggets forward Juancho Hernangomez was an honorable mention all-rookie.
